About Lia

We only can be here now when we accept instantly our moment by moment emotional experience.
-Gita Bellin

The relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important elements of the success in therapy. I believe change happens through experiencing our deepest emotions in the presence of a supportive and engaged other. Over the past 25 years of working with individuals and couples in both clinic settings and private practice, I have developed a passionate commitment to growth and healing based on authenticity and interactive, challenging, relational therapy. My passion extends to helping my clients develop their lives in accordance with their goals and values.

As a therapist, supervisor and consultant, I am responsible to both clients and the profession to continue my growth and development. I honor that responsibility through mindfulness practice, my focus on both personal and professional relationships, and by keeping current in the affective neurosciences and attachment based approaches. I began specialty training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) in 2003 with Diana Fosha (Founder of AEDP) and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy in 2004 with Dr. Sue Johnson (founder of EFT). Over the past 19 years, I have accumulated over two thousand hours in intensive training in AEDP and EFT. AEDP is an approach that champions our innate healing capacities and has roots in and resonances with many disciplines — among them interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, emotion theory and affective neuroscience, body-focused approaches, and last but not least, transformational studies. EFT focuses on enhancing couple relationships through the creation of emotionally safe and secure relationships. I am the founder of the AEDP Rocky Mountains Community , a community dedicated to the growth and development of AEDP Therapists, and have been a founding member of the AEDP West, Northern California Community of EFT, and the Denver Community of EFT.

I am a certified AEDP and EFT therapist and supervisor and train and supervise other clinicians in these powerful approaches to working with individuals and couples.

Finally, I am the organizer of the therapy training workshops sponsored by Building Healthy Relationships, LLC.
