We only can be here now when we accept instantly our moment by moment emotional experience.
The relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important elements of the success in therapy. I believe change happens through experiencing our deepest emotions in the presence of a supportive and engaged other. Over the past 20 years of working with individuals and couples in both clinic settings and private practice, I have developed a passionate commitment to growth and healing based on authenticity and interactive, challenging, relational therapy. My passion extends to helping my clients develop their lives in accordance with their goals and values.
A therapist is responsible to both clients and the profession to continue her growth and development. I honor that responsibility through mindfulness practice, my focus on both personal and professional relationships, and by keeping current in the affective neurosciences and attachment based approaches. I began training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy in 2004 with Dr. Sue Johnson (founder of EFT) and the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. Since beginning in 2004, I have over one hundred hours in EFT training and have been a founding member of the North California Community of EFT and the Denver Community of EFT. I am a certified EFT therapist and supervisor and have trained and supervised other clinicians in this powerful approach to working with couples.
Additionally, I am certified in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), an approach that champions our innate healing capacities. AEDP has roots in and resonances with many disciplines — among them interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, emotion theory and affective neuroscience, body-focused approaches, and last but not least, transformational studies. I am the founder of the AEDP Rocky Mountains Community, a community dedicated to the growth and development of AEDP Therapists, as well as an AEDP Supervisor in training
Finally, I am the organizer of the therapy training workshops sponsored by Building Healthy Relationships, LLC., an NBCC continuing education provider.
